WHY I COSPLAY THIS CHARACTER
I became interested in cosplaying Jade after seeing her initial design. It was like love at first sight. When I looked into her profile more I liked that she was a strong, fisticuffs, spear wielding woman with beauty and sass. I decided I wanted to cosplay her before the release of the game in the West and got started on her immediately. Materials, such as the green pleather, that I expected to be difficult to find were actually quite easy. I considered it "meant-to-be". Now that I have gotten to know Jade through playing the game, I also love her overall backstory, sweet personality, and fighting abilities. She is definitely one of my favorite characters from the game!
COSTUME CREATION DETAILS
Time Spent: Approximately 2 weeks
Wig: Arda Wigs
~ Black top & shorts were made from scratch. Both use the same stretch black material and were made using commercial patterns with some minor alterations.
~ Green arm bands were made from scratch and self patterned. Grommets were put in and bands open and close using a string tie through the grommets.
~ Top was self patterned and made using a bra as a base.
~ Skirt was self patterned and was made using three panels to get the lines in the back. This was attached to a belt that was painted using Angelous Paint and had buttons hand sewn through it.
~ Boots were painted using the same Angelous Pant formula as the belt.
~ Spear was made using a red broom as the base. Foam board, craft foam, and styrofoam shapes were used to make the basic forms. Worbla was used afterwards for a uniform look and permanence and then sealed and painted.
~ Gloves and hair scrunchies were bought and used as is.
